There is no doubt this year’s events have felt and looked different. However, the Roaring Fork Valley has done a wonderful job of curating exciting alternative events. As summer fades away and the trees start to show a hint of color, our bustling valley still has a few local late summer happenings occurring. Check out the favorites below!
Aspen (Buttermilk parking lot)
Outdoor movies have made a comeback during these times. Through September 12 enjoy classic family-friendly movies on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The venue will feature a 40-foot wide screen with surround sound transmitted to your car via FM radio all while enjoying a movie with a one-of-a-kind mountain backdrop. From 5pm – 7pm on Thursday evenings enjoy live music, bites, and drink specials in the Snowmass Mall and Snowmass Base Village. There is a free weekly bingo series from 6pm – 7pm at The Collective Snowmass
. Take in the peaceful Snowmass Mountain surroundings while enjoying a community gathering. Free transportation
available from Aspen or the Intercept Lot via RFTA.
Every Sunday from 10am – 2pm through September 27 head to downtown Basalt to shop from an assortment of local vendors and participate in offered demonstrations. Every week there is also live music and activities for kids to enjoy. Continue your Sunday stroll down Midland Avenue to enjoy other locals restaurants and shops
On Friday, September 11th this annual event is celebrating it’s 45th year! Guests are encouraged to watch this spectacle from their cars instead of the normal festival way. Another great option is to take a morning hike on the Rim Trail or up Snowmass Mountain to enjoy these breathtaking colorful views from afar.
Main Street Carbondale
